Department: Fundraising
Location: Madrid, Spain
OCEANA seeks an experienced, team-oriented Fundraising Officer to be part of the Fundraising Department. This is a full-time position based at our European Headquarters in Madrid.
Duties / Responsibilities:
The Fundraiser Officer will give support to all areas of the Fundraising Department for Oceana in Europe. S/he will be in charge of identifying new funding from appropriate foundations, governments and European Union and other sources and develop and write grant proposals to secure funding for Oceana in support of its mission to protect the world’s oceans.
The Fundraiser Officer will support the Fundraising Director in the coordination of each funder’s reporting requirements and the activities associated with securing a grant or any other donation or project. S/he will help monitor the grant process and work closely with the Accounting Department to prepare narrative and financial grant reports. The person will be in charge of updating the database on environmental grants, deadlines, issues, etc.
Office working hours are Monday to Friday, 10-14 hours and 15.30-19.30 hours. Flexibility in timetable and availability to travel domestically and internationally are required.
Qualifications:
We are seeking to hire a qualified candidate with wide knowledge in identifying and securing grants in the environmental sector (European Union funding also desirable). The person should have working experience of two or more years in a similar post and be able to write the follow up with donors and within the organisation. S/he must be bilingual in English and Spanish. Other languages (especially German, French and/or Italian) are desirable.
The successful candidate will be a self motivated person with proven experience in finding innovative ways to fundraise for an organisation and with experience in grant-writing and reporting to current funders. The person should be used to working under pressure and responding promptly as necessary. Background knowledge in environmental fundraising issues and/or knowledge of environmental/marine issues will be a plus.

UN DOCUMENTAL SOBRE LAS REDES DE DERIVA ILEGALES
Oceana en el documental hecho por la productora EarthOcean sobre las Redes de deriva ilegales en el Mediterráneo. El video incluye una entrevista a Xavier Pastor, Director de Oceana Europa, y también imágenes de los rederos de deriva ilegales grabadas durante las expediciones a bordo del catamarán Oceana Ranger. Las redes de deriva están prohibidas desde 2002, ya que representan una amenaza para la conservación de especies en peligro como las tortugas marinas y los cetáceos.
