A Case of Misidentification

The sandbar shark and the dusky shark are both commonly caught in US waters.  Their similar appearances make it very difficult to accurately record the number caught.  Without these numbers, managers are unable to adequately protect the sharks from over-harvesting.

One way to remedy this problem is to require that fishermen land the sharks with thier fins still on.  This would make it easier to identify the species of shark and provide more accurate data for use in management.

Can you tell which sharks are the sandbar sharks and which ones are dusky sharks? Answer>>>
