Biography
Continuing her successful transition from supermodel to actress, Amber Valletta can be seen in several upcoming film roles scheduled for release this year. From romantic comedies to action films, Valletta continues to expand her range and versatility as an actress.
In 2005, Valletta was seen in Columbia Pictures’ romantic comedy, “Hitch,” in which she co-stars opposite Will Smith, Eva Mendes and Kevin James. In the film, Valletta portrays Allegra Cole, a rich, even-headed heiress who is being pursued by Albert (James) with the help of “love doctor” Alex Hitchens (Smith). More recently she was seen opposite Jason Statham in the action film “The Transporter 2,” directed by Luc Besson for Twentieth Century Fox. The film opened in first place at the North American box office during its first weekend. Upcoming projects scheduled for release in 2008 include Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor's futuristic thriller "Game," and the drama "Days of Wrath," directed by Celia Fox and co-starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Laurence Fishburne, and Wilmer Valderrama.
Other projects for Valletta include “Man About Town” from Media 8 Entertainment, directed by Mike Binder, co-starring Ben Affleck and Rebecca Romijn; the horror/thriller film “Dead Silence” from director James Wan and Universal Pictures; and the romantic comedy “The Last Time,” directed by Michael Caleo and co-starring Brendan Fraser and Michael Keaton.
In her first feature film, she appeared as herself in Douglas Keeve’s documentary “Unzipped,” about fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi. She then landed the lead opposite James LeGros in Stacey Cochran’s “Drop Back Ten,” which was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival. She subsequently appeared opposite Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer in the DreamWorks thriller “What Lies Beneath” from Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis, and opposite Nicolas Cage in Brett Ratner’s “Family Man” from Universal. In 2003, Danny DeVito directed her in “The Duplex,” also starring Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore. She also appeared in Gary Marshall’s “Raising Helen” from Touchstone Pictures alongside Kate Hudson.
Valletta is also involved in numerous charities and events and is the spokesperson for Oceana’s Seafood Contamination Campaign, bringing awareness of the dangers of mercury poisoning in various kinds of seafood.
A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Valletta began modeling in Europe at the age of 15.
