Krill Protected in Pacific Waters!
Federal policymakers released the final regulations banning all fishing for krill-an essential source of food for whales, salmon, sea lions and other marine animals-in U.S. Pacific waters. This action is the end of a multi-year advocacy campaign led by Oceana and others, and has had strong support from scientists, conservationists, fishermen, coastal businesses and local communities.

Mercury-Based Chlorine Phase-Out One Step Closer
Oceana is pleased to announce that H.R. 2190, the "Mercury Pollution Reduction Act of 2009," reported out of the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection and now heads to the full House Energy and Commerce Committee. The bill will require four heavily-polluting chlor-alkali plants to clean up their act.
