World famous actor and oceans advocate, Ted Danson, is a board member. Dr. Daniel Pauly, one of the world’s leading marine scientists, sits on our board and is chair of Oceana’s Science Advisory Board. Andy Sharpless, a former consultant at McKinsey, SVP of Real Networks, EVP of Discovery.com, Internet pioneer, and advocacy veteran is Oceana’s Chief Executive Officer. Jim Simon – a former top lawyer in the US Justice Department – is Executive Vice President and Chief Counsel. The founder of Greenpeace Spain, Italy and Greece and a former fisheries manager – Xavier Pastor – runs our European offices. Dr. Michael Hirshfield – a former top leader and scientist at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation – is Oceana’s Vice President for North America as well as chief scientist. Jim Ayers, long time Chief of Staff for Alaskan Governor Tony Knowles, leads Oceana's Pacific Region Office and Matt Littlejohn, formerly EVP of Marketing for Zoom Media Group, is Oceana’s Vice President of communications.
